The Social Studies 7A Geography course introduces students to some of the major regions of the world. Special emphasis will be given to physical and human characteristics, as well as social and cultural features of selected regions (United States, Canada, Latin America, and Europe). Introduction to mapping and other geography-related skills will be covered in Unit One. Students will explore the included regions through lessons that examine the physical features, historical influences (both early and modern), culture, and political and economic features. Woven throughout the course will be discussions of current challenges and issues each region faces. The course is designed to meet and exceed the Pennsylvania State Standards. Common Core standards in Literacy in History and Social Sciences are also addressed.
