English 11
LA.11.V2.Bnet4copy
This course attempts to give students a solid background in both the literature and the language of their country. It provides a wide range of genres, difficulty levels, and activities to try to give students an interesting and varied educational experience. The units of study in English 11 have been designed to coordinate with the textbook they will use for the course. They comprise a chronological survey of American literature, beginning with the arrival of the fist European settlers on this continent, and ending with authors who are writing and publishing today. The first seven units are all literature based. There is also a research paper component to this course. The research process is covered in detail, and a complete 10 – 15 page research paper is required in order to successfully complete the course. There is also a very involved free reading requirement in this class. By the completion of the course, students will have read 21 books. Accountability for this component is taken into account in the overall grade
