In this course, students will learn about the history of the United States from the migration of the first Americans from Asia, to America emerging as a world power in the 21st century. The course takes students through time where they will learn about the early American cultures to the election of George Bush as president in 2000. Along the way, students will learn about important people who have made a huge contribution to the United States, such as Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, and Theodore Roosevelt. The course will also explore the rights of women, Native Americans, and people in slavery and examine inventions such as the telephone, the steam engine, and the cotton gin that have changed life. The geography of the United States, map and globe skills, and changing cultures are also included in this course.
